Prof. Dawson's Research Interests

  • Apophatic anthropology
An investigation into the connect between the unknowability of God and the mystery of human nature and deification in the Greek patristic tradition.

  • Hypostatic union
Investigating the implications of the understanding of the humanity of Jesus for the understanding of the human path to holiness

  • Desire and holiness, including queer theology

  • Neoplatonism and Christian theology
The Christianization of neoplatonism has provided resources for thinking about the relationship between soul and body that have not been sufficiently explored.

  • Beauty and theology
Developing a theology of culture and the arts as a resource for theology.
